Best Shoes for College

Hi readers! Welcome to my first blog post! I’m excited to begin this journey of learning and sharing ideas and thoughts! To begin, I thought I would write about something I have experience with. As you may have read in my introduction post, I discussed how I am a junior in college and I am pursuing a fashion merchandising degree. This means that various types of shoes for all different occasions are a part of my everyday life at school. So with that being said, I wanted to focus this week’s post on what I thought were the best types of shoes to bring with you to college.

When you think about what is in your shoe collection, many times your closet is segmented into different types of shoes for different occasions, purposes, and functions. When you pack for college, it is important to remember to pack for all of the different occasions, purposes, and functions you think you may need or will be a part of. With this first post, I want to list the types of shoes I think are important to bring to school!

Comfortable shoes for walking:

  • You’re going to be walking a lot when you start school, from class to class, breakfast, lunch, and dinner, meetings, extracurricular clubs, and any other activities you may join. You want to be prepared with comfortable shoes for your long days. I would recommend a good pair of tennis shoes, such as Nike’s or Under Armour, or your favorite Converse that you know you’re comfortable in.

Exercise shoes:

  • Exercising is a great way to relieve stress during college. If you are going to exercise, it is important that you wear appropriate shoes so that you do not injure yourself.

Cute Sandals:

  • Sandals are fun to wear to dress up any outfit. They also can be really comfortable and a go-to shoe option. These options can include traditional sandals, Birkenstocks, Crocs, or Chacos.

Shower shoes:

  • “Shower shoes” are any flip flops or sandals that are water and slip resistant. These shoes are important because it is likely that your dorm room showers will not stay clean.

Rain/weather-proof shoes:

  • You never know what they weather may be, so it is imperative that you pack rain boots or snow boots, especially if you live in a colder climate.

Riding boots/booties:

  • These tall or short boots are fashionable and fun! They definitely are trendy during the fall and winter months in college.

Interview shoes:

  • It is important to remember that you may be going to professional meetings and interviews while on campus. “Interview shoes” can be flats or heels. Remember they need to be comfortable and easy to walk in.

The first time packing for college can be stressful, but as long as you prepare and pack what is essential for your lifestyle, you will be successful. I hope my list was helpful!

Happy packing! 🙂
