I don’t know about you, but I love watching movies! I like to see the different styles that characters have especially what types of shoes they wear. There are a few iconic pairs of shoes from movies that really stood out to me so I decided to make a list of my favorites! Most of them are from classics Like Forrest Gump and Dirty Dancing so hopefully you recognize them.
Number 8: Steve Prefontaine’s Nike’s from the movie Prefontaine
This is a classic running movie about one of the greatest long distance runners to ever exist and he just happens to be my favorite. In the movie, Bill Bowerman (the co founder of Nike) was Steve’s coach and gave him a pair of Nikes to race in, but at the time the weren’t Nike’s they were called Blue Ribbon Sports. When Steve got the first pair he didn’t like the swoosh that was on the side of the shoe so he pulled it off. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to find a picture of the shoes from the movie, but I found a picture of the actual shoes he raced in.
Number 7: Spicoli’s Black and white checkered vans from Fast Times at Ridgemont High
If you haven’t seen this movie, you are really missing out! It’s a hilarious movie about a group of high schoolers. Spicoli is the schools pothead/ surfer dude who wears these black and white checkered vans. The shoes were placed in the movie as a marketing strategy and it definitely worked!
Number 6: Calvin’s basketball shoes from Like Mike
Like Mike was one of my favorite movies growing up and Calvin’s “Magic” shoes were the center of the plot line. Calvin found the shoes stuck up on the power lines near his orphanage and decided to get them down. When Calvin puts the shoes on he becomes this amazing basketball player.
Number 5: Baby’s White Keds from Dirty Dancing
This is another movie that everyone needs to have seen! First of all, Patrick Swazy is in it and if that isn’t enough to convince you I don’t know what is. Baby, one of the main characters, wears a pair of white Keds a lot during the film and looks great in them!
Number 4: The Black Mamba’s Yellow Onitsuka Tigers from Kill Bill: Volume 1
Kill Bill is a great movie about an ex assassin trying to get revenge on the leader of her assassin group. While traveling around getting revenge, The Black Mamba wears an iconic yellow jumpsuit with black and yellow Onitsuka Tigers.
Number 3: Elle’s Prada heels in Legally Blonde
These shoes make this movie! I don’t want to spoil it for anyone who hasn’t seen the movie, but at the end of the movie they play a huge part. So if you don’t know what I’m talking about, go watch the movie!
Number 2: Forrest Gump’s Nike Air Cortez in Forrest Gump
This is another classic movie with so many great shoes in it, but the Nike’s that Jenny gives to Forrest have to be my favorite!
Number 1: Benny’s PF Flyers from the Sandlot
If you don’t know what pair of shoes I am talking about then you haven’t seen one of the best movies ever! As Benny laces up those high tops you have to be a little worried that he won’t make it out of the Beast’s yard.
