5 Shoes From Your Childhood

As we grow up, everyone has their own fashion style, but most all of us can probably remember having or wanting these five notable shoes from our childhood.  Don’t fear if you were one of the kids stuck just wanting the shoes as I assure you that I can relate.  After all, being a kid was all about buying matching outfits and shoes with your friends, right? If you want to feel some major nostalgia over your childhood shoes, check out the list below.

1. Jelly Shoes

Can I just say who invented these? Did they ever try wearing them? These are some of the most uncomfortable shoes to cram a child’s foot into and once your feet started to sweat they were even worse. Despite this fact, I think every little girl owned a pair of these in either pink, silver, or purple and all with sparkles – of course. I mean, the glitter is what made all the pain worth it.

2. Platform Flip Flops

Ahh, I remember what it was like to be a few inches taller and feel superior to those in flats as I looked down at them from the 1.5 inches taller I stood.  These shoes were most notably paired with gauchos and my personal favorite, a Bobby Jack T-shirt.

3. Clogs

These were one of my go to shoes.  They were brown and plain and that matches everything in the eyes of a 7-year-old.  They also had a small heel on them and what little girl didn’t like stealing their mother’s heels so having some of my own was the best.

4. Light up Velcro Sketchers

Okay, you could not go wrong with these.  First off, they were velcro and as a child I never had the patience to tie my shoes or wait for someone else to tie them.  Secondly, these were actually some of the more comfortable shoes I remember wearing since they were tennis shoes. Lastly, they had lights – enough said.

5. Heelys

I have to admit here, I never owned a pair of these.  I believe my mom did not like the idea of me skating around in my shoes so she would never agree to buy me a pair and I was stuck watching everyone else roll.  I remember these becoming so popular in school and people rolling to class that the school actually banned them, and you had to take the wheels out to wear them – what fun suckers.
