Welcome back (or welcome for the first time) fellow friends! Being a small female, (I am all of 5’2” – very intimidating, I know) I am always scared when walking in the dark even when I’m with people and especially terrified when walking alone. I feel that I am not alone here which is what has inspired this post. In this day and age, we’re all looking for ways to defend our self when we’re out at night. Some people choose to carry pepper spray, a taser, or a knife. But myself? A good ole pair of killer shoes would be my go-to (okay, I mean, I carry pepper spray too).
Stilettos with Spikes

To me, these seem like the most obvious choice. You’ve got the spikes all over the shoe and then the heel to bash into someone’s head. I cannot imagine anyone being able to keep a good grip on you while you smash spikes and a heel into them. Depending on the length of the spikes on your shoes and the quality, these could do some serious damage. Not only will you be wearing a potent weapon on your feet, but you’ll look like a bad b*tch wearing these too.

My suggestion: pound those spikes and heel into the attacker’s head.
Thick Ankle Booties
These shoes are a great choice if you like to kick. I would recommend keeping these shoes on and using their thickness and extra weight to your advantage. Most of these shoes tie as well so they should stay securely attached to your feet and give you the extra oompf you need to take anyone down.

My suggestion: kick their groin.
Track Spikes
Okay, before you say anything, I know. Who would wear track spikes when going out at night? Literally no one. But, what if you were attacked when at a track meet or on your way home from one? I would for sure take these puppies out of their bag or off your feet and use those spikes to your advantage!

My suggestion: spike the perpetrator’s face.
Tennis Shoes
Unlike the other shoes I’ve mentioned, you are not going to want to try and take your tennis shoes off and attack whoever is attacking you. Instead, you want to make sure your shoes are tied tight, turn away from your attacker, and run. These shoes will most likely be your best bet if your plan is to escape rather than attack and defend.

My suggestion: run for your life.
