Mackenzie Slade

Hello solemates!

Welcome to our shoe blog! As one of our four bloggers here I would like to introduce myself. I am Mackenzie Slade and have been an avid shoe wearer for a good 19 years – I am 20 years old but who really wears shoes that first year?

I’ll let you all in on some background about me if you’re curious.  I am from a small town in Ohio (basically a corn field let’s be honest here) and I currently go to Ball State University #chirpchirp.  My majors are accounting, finance, and economics (this may sound gross, but trust me, it’s not – most of the time).  Now you may be thinking “that has nothing to do with shoes,” but that’s where you’re wrong.  See, I wear shoes to all my classes and any career I go into will require me to wear shoes.

In my free time, I love to shop for everything under the sun including shoes – of course.  I also enjoy crafting, watching Netlfix, baking, and looking at houses I can never afford.  I very proudly became a dog mom this year to my little three-pound chihuahua, Daisy #adoptdontshop.  Fun fact about Daisy: she also loves shoes! The only difference is she loves to eat them – oh no!

Since I have been wearing shoes for about 95% of my time here on Earth I would say I am slightly experienced in that area, but what makes me more experienced about shoes than you? Quite frankly, nothing.  I will be learning here, sharing my findings, opinions, and inputs with you and hopefully you find it helpful or possibly comical with how bad it is, but we’ll have to wait and see which one it is.

Some of the things you can look forward to reading about from me include comparing shoe brands, testing shoe products, the best shoes for certain occasions, where to find the best deals, and how to find the shoes for you – aka your solemate!  I also hope to write about some fun topics related to shoes in the mix as well. Also, if you ever have a topic you want to go over, feel free to suggest it.  After all, this blog is about helping you!

We all have our own shoe styles and preferences so over the course of my posts you most likely will figure out mine.  I used to always go for the cutest shoes no matter how uncomfortable, but that quickly changed.  I now go for the most comfortable shoes most of the time because no one likes aching and bleeding feet.  My shoe style has also evolved over the years as trends have changed and I have realized that you need more than five pairs of shoes to mix up your outfits.

Most of my shoe “expertise” will lie in the area of shoes I currently own, have owned, or I have “borrowed” from my sister.  For reference, currently I have 53 pairs of shoes in my closet and that number is always growing.

It should be noted that this is my first blog so hang in there with me it may be a bumpy ride at first, but we’ll all get through it together!
