Oh goodness! Would ya look there. You’re back and it’s already fall! If I have learned one thing in my 20 trips around the sun, it’s that everyone loves fall and I can’t blame them. I’m not exactly sure on one single thing on its own that makes this season so great (jk. Yes I can. I was born in the fall and that’s the sole reason it is amazing), but it definitely has the it factor with everything combined.
I feel like there are literally so many things to do and so many reasons to be happy. It starts at the simple things from just walking outside to smell the autumn air and seeing all the colors of the leaves change. We can’t forget the rivalry between apple cider and pumpkin spice flavored drinks and food everywhere (which one is better is a debate for another time). One of the things I want to do but have never gotten the chance to go to is a pumpkin patch and actually pick and buy a pumpkin. Although those pumpkins are a little expensive, but it’s all about the experience, right? I tend on going the cheaper route and buying a pumpkin at Walmart to carve. I love carving pumpkins. Another fall favorite is all the corn mazes. I love corn mazes and the ones with free prizes at the end are even better. Side note, my two friends and myself made the 2018 corn maze hall of fame at Today’s Harvest. Don’t believe me? Our picture is on their website and we’re going back to make 2019 hall of fame this weekend. Let’s not forget two great holidays (not nearly as great as Christmas) are hosted in fall as well. Halloween and Thanksgiving. This may be many people’s reason for fall being the favorite season. Who doesn’t love dressing up and being whatever and whoever they want and stuffing themselves with food surrounded by all your family?
One of the last things I will mention about what makes fall so great is the fashion. There are so many adorable looks in the fall from the sweaters and cardigans to comfy leggings and cute skirts all the way down to the shoes. Boots and booties galore.
You can’t have a statement fall outfit without a good pair of booties or boots. So how many pairs of different types of boots and booties do you need for the fall? Well, I guess that’s up to personal preference, but you can never have too many! Some of the shoes I believe everyone needs are tall boots, ankle boots, booties, combat boots, and rain roots. Why you may ask? That’s what I’m here to tell you.
Tall Boots
If you don’t know what these are and haven’t seen them, then sorry to say but you live under a rock. My bet is you’ve owned them at one point in your life too whether it’s now or when you were a wee little one and your mom was still picking out all your clothes and shoes and dressing you.

The warm brown tall boot is the most notable of all the boots I’m talking about in my opinion. These have been around for as long as I can remember, and they’ll stick around for many more years most likely. They also pair with just about any fall outfit. I find myself throwing on a sweater with skinny jeans or leggings most days in the fall and these boots always match. With that being said, they sound like a pretty good investment to me.
You may be thinking that since they’re the most notable and so many people have them, that you’ll be looking just like everyone else, but you’re wrong. There are so many different styles and colors within the tall boots that you can easily still set yourself apart.
There’s a variety of colors. While a warm brown is what I picture when thinking of these, they come in all shades of brown, grey, and black. The different colors match certain outfits better than others, so I suggest having more than one color.

The style and look of all the boots are different as well with buckles, zippers, and laces. Or if you prefer plain, some have nothing to them but a smaller zipper to get your foot in the boot.
There are many different materials they’re made out of as well. Some hold up better, clean easier, have more flexibility, and/or keep your legs warmer than others. While most boots are leather or some type of synthetic leather, there are also suede boots. I have a pair of each and prefer my suede ones to my leather ones. While both are cute and keep my legs warm, the suede ones are more comfortable to move my legs in. I believe the material has more give to it and the insides of mine are lined for extra warmth and comfort. Although my leather like pair are easier to clean off because dirt/mud/water doesn’t get trapped in the material and can just be wiped off.

There’s also the over the knee boots. I think these are super cute with a skirt in the fall, but I personally do not own a pair…yet. They’re usually made of a suede material to easily pull them all the way up your leg. I think these are cute for going out or trying to spice up and outfit so it’s not the typical jeans and sweater with boots look.
Ankle Boots
Before I get started on actually talking about ankle boots, I have to share part of my best deal ever with you. I bought a pair of brand new $80 ankle boots for $4. Yes, 4 whole dollars. You’re probably wondering how I did that, but that’s for a later video so stay tuned!
Ankle boots are short boots that go about one to four inches above your ankle. As you can imagine, these are much less restricting than tall boots because, well, they’re shorter. They can be great for those of you who prefer a shorter boot or like more variety.

Just like tall boots, ankle boots come in a variety of colors and materials, but they have even more options. There’s more designs, embroidery, cutouts, and patterns. If you look, I am sure you will find at least one pair that you like that expresses your style. And if you find a solid pair you like but want to mix it up some days, try adding a short crew sock showing out the top! I like adding different colored socks and some with little lace patterns to my solid brown ankle boots.
These types of boots also pair great with a pair of skinny jeans and basically any top. You can never go wrong with a good pair of ankle boots.
Booties
These are my favorite! I love booties. My favorite pair of booties I actually paid full price for. I never pay full price for clothes and shoes. Ever. I was at Von Muar, walked out of the sale room (my usual shopping area) and saw these adorable booties sitting there. I tried them on in hopes of hating them because I didn’t really want to spend $70 on a full price pair of shoes, but I ended up loving them. My mom convinced me to buy them with my Christmas bonus and to this day I do not regret it. Being able to get these booties out of the closet in the fall is one thing I look forward to and since they’ll be in style for quite a while, I don’t think splurging on a pair you really love is a bad idea!

Now you know I love my booties, what are booties? Aren’t they the same as ankle boots? No, booties are short little boots that end right at your ankle. Booties are extremely similar to ankle boots in the options they come in though. They also have a wider range of styles, patterns, and materials than tall boots and something for everyone. The one difference I will note besides how high up they go is that I would not recommend pairing these with socks. They are too short to look good since they end right at your ankle in my opinion.
You can never go wrong with a good pair of booties as just like ankle boots, they go with jeans and just about any top! I have a hard time not wearing mine every day because they match so much, but I have to let all my shoes take turns on seeing the outside world!
Combat Boots

I think everyone knows what combat boots look like. They go about four to six inches up past your ankle and lace up the front. There are a few different ways to wear these even though they are basically all the same. This includes how you tie the laces. You can choose to tie them up in a bow, not tie them at all, tie them off on each side in a knot, or tie them in some type of knot together in the middle. I’ve seen all the ways and they’re all cute, but I would recommend looking up specific ways to tie them if you’re interested and then seeing what works best for you and is most comfortable!
Most of these boots are brown, mine are brown, but they also come in black, white, and some other deep colors. These are another pair of boots you can match up with some socks. I like to wear cream colored socks against my brown combat boots when I’m wearing jeans to break up the darker colors and let the shoes stand out more.

If you consider your style to be more edgy, these are definitely the boots I would recommend. Not just any though, I would go with black or any Dr. Martens or any similar looking ones to Dr. Martens because those can get pricey and I know plenty of us are out here living on a budget.
Rain Boots
I hate the rain, but I love rain boots. When I first got my pair of rain boots, I wanted it to rain. I couldn’t wait to wear them. I did the same thing when I got my raincoat too. Most days I dread waking up and having to walk to class in the rain, but after I get new rain attire, I love it! Don’t get me wrong though, this feeling does not last, and I quickly go back to hating walking in the rain, but it’s nice to be able to break out the new shoes I just got for the first time.

Rain boots are the most fun of all the boots in my opinion. You can get some super cute rain boots with all different crazy fun patterns on them. It’s not like you’re wearing them all the time so why not add some flare and fun on those dreary days.

Aside from all the patterns, you can find rain boots in a variety of heights and durability. I personally like the shorter ankle rain boots because they are easier to get on and off, but if you plan on being in some intense rain, maybe you should check out taller boots. Aside from keeping your feet dry, you can use rain boots to keep your legs warm too. Many companies that sell rain boots also sell liners that fit perfectly in them to keep your feet and legs warm on those especially cold rainy days.
Rain boots can be worn with anything in my opinion. It’s raining out, who’s going to judge you if your rain boots don’t match your outfit? Someone who is no fun and has wet feet, that’s who. And you’re winning with warm and dry feet so who cares!

That’s it. That’s all I have to say about fall boots! Don’t have at least one pair of each one of these styles? I recommend getting some if you’re debating it because they never really go out of style and it’s one more thing to look forward to every fall: bringing back out your boots and booties! As if you really need something else to look forward to, but it never hurts!
I’ve mentioned some of the boots I own throughout my post so you may be wondering how many pairs I have. Okay well, you’re probably not wondering, but I am going to tell you anyway that in total I have 9 pairs of boots: two pairs of tall boots, two pairs of ankle boots, one pair of booties, two pairs of combat boots, and two pairs of rainboots. Like I said earlier, you can never have too many (and I want more)!
Now go out and enjoy this beautiful fall and all the activities in your boots!
Happy Fall Y’all!
