Oh my goodness! You guys have no idea how excited I am for this post. Ever since I knew I would be posting on a blog about shoes, I have been not so patiently waiting for the right time to make this post. What makes this the right time? Eh, I felt like it and couldnāt wait any longer. I love movies and I love shoes so what makes a better combination than shoes that make a movie?! Nothing!!
These are my top 4 movies with ionic shoes in them. You may disagree, but hey, thatās okay. I havenāt seen every movie in the world so maybe there are movies out there with more ionic shoes than these, Iāll let you decide though.
**WARNING** I should note that if you have not watched one of these movies (well you should watch them), there may be some spoilers, but the whole movie will not be ruined for you by any means! I apologize in advance, but how else am I supposed to tell you how these shoes play an ionic role?
4. Shawshank Redemption

Andy Dufresne was set on breaking out of Shawshank, but it was how he let Warden Norton know he had bested him that set this movie as number four on my list. Andy, like other prisoners, had jobs inside the prison. He worked for Warden Norton and one part of his job was to shine the Wardenās shoes. The same day Andy was set to execute his breakout plan he did exactly as he was to do; he shined the Wardenās shoes. The difference? Warden Nortonās shoes didnāt make it back in their shoe box for the next day, instead they left on Andyās feet as he walked out right past the guards. At this point Morgan Freeman says, āHow often do we really look at a manās shoes?ā because shouldnāt they have noticed a prisoner wearing nicely shined black shoes instead of brown loafers? Youād think. The next morning, Andyās shoes were in the Wardenās shoe box for Warden Norton to find and ultimately realize Andy was gone.
3. The Sandlot

After Scotty hits a Babe Ruth autographed baseball into the yard of the Beast, the boys needed to get it back. Babe Ruth came to Benny the Jet Rodriguez in a dream telling him to retrieve the ball so thatās exactly what Benny decided to do. Before performing this task in which the boys were unsure if he would make it out alive, Benny pulled out a new pair of PF Flyers which were guaranteed to make a kid run faster and jump higher. Benny ended up going on a wild chase all around town after the Beast got out. Did these brand new PF Flyers really help Benny outrun the Beast and retrieve the autographed baseball? Well, he surely achieved both, but as if we can credit this to strictly the shoes, for the sake of the movie, Iāll say yes.
2. Cinderella

Who doesnāt know the classic story of Cinderella? Poor Cinderella finally gets a night out courtesy of help from Gus, the other mice, and her fairy godmother after living under the strict rules of her evil step-mother and step-sisters. The only catch? Everything the godmother bippity-boppity-booped her disappears at midnight. When the clock strikes midnight, she leaves the Prince sheās been dancing with to rush out and get home. On her rush to get back to her coach, she loses her glass slipper at the castle. Determined to find the girl he had been dancing with, the Prince uses the only thing he has left of her, the glass slipper. The King orders that every maiden in the kingdom try on the glass slipper to find who the Prince had danced with at the Royal Ball.
1. The Wizard of Oz

The most ionic shoes in all the movies to ever exist on the face of the earth. Ruby red slippers. When a tornado sweeps Dorothyās house up with her and Toto inside, she lands in Munchkinland. Not only does her house just land in Munchkinland, but it lands on the Wicked Witch of the East leaving just the ends of her legs with her feet and ruby red slippers sticking out of under of the house. The Wicked Witch of the Eastās sister, the Wicked Witch of the West, arrives to claim her sisterās shoes, but Glinda, the good witch, transports them onto Dorothyās feet first. After following the yellow brick road, finding friends along the way, outsmarting the Wicked Witch of the West, and arriving at the Emerald City, Dorothy is prepared to get back home to Kansas. Glinda reveals that the ruby red slippers have powers and to return home Dorothy just has to close her eyes, tap her heels together three times, and say āThereās no place like home.ā
