Dog Shoes

Have you ever seen a dog wearing shoes?  It’s some of the cutest shit ever.  That’s it.  That’s the post.  Jk.. unless… No. No, it’s not.

If you’ve watched any of my videos or read my about me, you know I have a tiny little dog, Daisy.  I just adopted her in July of this year.   July 26th actually so I’ve only had her for about 3 months.  In those three months I have learned one very important thing, she hates when you touch her feet!  This was quite disappointing to me because I have always wanted to buy my dogs shoes, but I don’t think Daisy would be very pleased if I tried to put them on her ☹.

Despite this, I will most likely end up buying her a pair when I find cute ones for a good price I can’t pass up.  She’ll learn to like them, right?  I think she will, at least in the rain and cold.  She’s a tiny little chihuahua and very prissy so the rain and cold are not for her.  In this aspect, she would be thanking me for buying her shoes… I think… I hope.

Could you imagine this little thing in shoes?
It’s Halloween, I had to add these!

So, what practical reasons are there to buy your dog shoes besides making them even cuter than they already are?  Dog shoes can help protect your dog’s paws from hot pavement in the summer, keep their feet dry in the rain, and keep their feet warm in the winter and snow.  Depending on where you live, some of these reasons may not apply to you as much.  I live in the Midwest though so basically everything applies here.

If you live somewhere with a lot of sun and heat, but love taking your dog on walks, investing in some shoes for your furry friend may be something you want to consider.  Many people don’t think about how hot the pavement is and what it can do to your dog’s paws.  If you cannot hold your hand on the ground for 10 seconds due to the heat, it’s too hot for your dog.  You don’t want your poor little dog to suffer burns on the paws they use to get around on.  Imagine the pain they would be in.  Simple solution: dog sandals!

I mean, really, look at this little yorkie in her sandals.  That could be your dog!

It rains basically everywhere I’m pretty sure so any dog could benefit from having their very own rain boots.  I don’t know about you, but whenever my dogs go outside in the rain, they always come back in with wet and muddy paws.  We have to make sure to clean their paws off every time before they jump on the furniture and get it dirty.  I know putting on rainboots doesn’t cut out the extra work involved, but it does save paper towels and if you think about it, money in the long run.  Plus, it’s just cute and extra.

This poodle in her raincoat and matching rain boots could be your dog!  Just with a simple expansion of your furry friend’s closet.

Winter snow boots probably apply to the least number of pups out there.  They are also probably the least needed of all these (but still needed).  One of my dogs loves to play in the snow and flipping it up with her nose and running all over.  I am sure she would appreciate a nice pair of boots to keep her little paws warm.  All the cold weather and ice can also cause cracking on their paw pads.  Although it doesn’t happen as often, you should take all precautions with boots.

Look at this adorable papillon bundled up for the cold! *sheds tear*

If I have learned one thing writing this post, looking up pictures with dogs in shoes will never disappoint. I can only imagine it in person!
