My Shoes Keep Farting

Have you ever been in public, or even worse, on a date with a cute guy and your shoes decide to start farting?  Well I certainly have, and it can be so embarrassing.  You just want to let everyone know that it was your shoes – not you!

Having to announce that it was your shoes isn’t any better though.  Sometimes it could even be worse if no one heard it and now you’re telling everyone like sure it was your shoes.  The simple (well maybe not simple, we’ll find out) solution to this is to just make them stop farting.

One of my favorite pairs and my top go to shoes has recently started doing this.  After multiple wears and the poot poot poot not stopping, I decided to do some investigating on why this was happening and how to make it stop since it clearly wasn’t going to stop anytime soon on its own.

The first thing I found was that the shoes may be too small.  I quickly ruled this reasoning out as I know the shoes fit me.

The next step was to check the insoles on the shoes as sometimes they become loose (if they were originally glued down) and this allows air to get into the shoe.  This also did not seem to be my issue, but if you found this was a problem, try gluing back down the insoles into your shoes.  Then, cross your fingers that this method works and your shoes are fixed!

Another suggestion I came across was to use baby powder.  This can help if water or some moisture has got between the inner sole of your shoe.  If your sole is removable, take it out, sprinkle some baby powder, and wait and see! If your sole is not removable, just sprinkle the baby powder around the inner edge of your shoe and try to shake it down in there.  My shoes had removable soles so I tried this method.  Sadly, I had no luck, but you might! I’m not perfect and I could have done this wrong because sprinkling baby powder is quite complicated.

If you’re not fond of using baby powder, you can try throwing your shoes in the dryer.  I wouldn’t put them in the dryer long as to not damage them, probably no more than 10 minutes.  I did not try this method as I live in a college apartment and my dryer cannot dry anything so it would have been useless for me to attempt.

If your feet sweat in your shoes then the sweating and rubbing from your feet could be causing the embarrassing farting sound.  My shoes require me to wear socks so I quickly ruled this option out as well.

In the end, my shoes still fart. ☹ But I hope one of these methods worked for you, or for some odd reason, you enjoy farting shoes!
